THE PHILOSOPHY OF PRIME ALTURE

Wines born from the passion for agriculture.

A life project. A dream that has come true.

The passion for wine and for hospitality. and the desire to rediscover a territory, dedicated to God Bacchus but not yet on everyone’s lips, are the elements that led Roberto Lechiancole to invest in the Oltrepò Pavese — the third best terroir in the world for the production of Pinot Noir —, in order to produce wines with a distinctive and deeply recognisable grape variety, in a process of biologically sustainable agriculture to ensure the protection of consumers.

Prime Alture took its first steps on the Lombardy wine scene in 2006, immediately winning the recognition of wine connoisseurs and becoming one of the region’s leading wineries in just a few years.

THE TERRITORY

An area that permits to make good wines.

Prime Alture is located on the first hills of Casteggio in the Oltrepò Pavese area, on the 45th parallel, known as the parallel of wine, where the vineyards of the Roman village of Clastidium have flourished since 200 BC.

With around 13,500 hectares, Oltrepò Pavese is the third largest appellation area in Italy and the first area in Lombardy for winegrowing. With its 3,600 hectares, it is also the third largest area in Europe and the first in Italy for the production of Pinot Noir.

The favourable geographical conditions – the altitude of 290 metres above sea level, a good temperature range between day and night, the constant ventilation from the southwest combined with a marly subsoil of limestone and clay with the right exposure for each grape variety – allow the production of wines that fully respect their typical characteristics.

THE FAMILY OF PRIME ALTURE

What is the Soil without the passion of Men?

Men – united by the same passion – that have started a journey led by Roberto Lechiancole, who has transmitted to them the enthusiasm of a project that, starting from the Soil, has led Prime Alture Winery towards the cultivation of vineyards – respecting biodiversity – and the production of wines that, poured into the glass, convey the passions and emotions that the Men themselves have put into the various stages of production.

Roberto and his team, consisting of Jean Francois Coquard – an excellent oenologist on the Italian and French scene –, the cellar master Fausto Comotti, the agronomist Claudio Giorgi and the pruning master Claudio Brunelli, have thus created authentic, recognisable productions with a clear territorial accent, consisting of hand-picked grapes in crates, timely crushing and oxygen protection from the vineyard to bottling.
